It is with deep gratitude that I...
It is with deep gratitude that I give this testimony. The seed of Truth was sown in my thought many years ago when I met a Christian Scientist who was passing through our city. Her poise, love, and gentleness so impressed me that I made a journey to another city in order to purchase a copy of the Christian Science textbook. Alter reading some of it and not understanding it, I laid it aside.
It is said that "man's extremity is God's opportunity." In an hour of great need, fourteen years after purchasing the book, I was led one night to pick it up and begin reading. I lost myself in its message for five hours, after which I was surprised to find myself without pain, and feeling as though a heavy weight had been lifted. I had not been without pain for a long time. I went to sleep that night and had the first night's sleep I had had in months.
The following day I opened the textbook and my eyes fell on these words (p. 1). "The prayer that reforms the sinner and heals the sick is an absolute faith that all things are possible to God,—a spiritual understanding of Him, an unselfed love." I realized I had been healed, but I did not stop with that. I wanted to know how I had been healed. I studied continually until this truth began to dawn upon my consciousness. Since that time Christian Science has been my only physician, and we have had many healings in our home.
