Progress Requires Active Faith

Virginian Methodist Advocate Richmond, Virginia

The only faith that is worthy of the name refers to that confident trust in God that moves one so to order his life that it will be pleasing to God. It is not enough to have a factual knowledge of what is right. ...Mere intellectual assent to the fact of God is only a small part of saving faith. One must have that beginning, of course, but unless that faith moves him on to trust in God and to the way of life as revealed in Jesus, the mere assent is poor indeed.

What is sorely needed today is for the multitudes so to believe in God that they will put Him first in their thoughts and ambitions and plans and hearts.
