Church Dedications

Danforth Tribune

Toronto, Canada (Second Church).

Dedication services were held on Sunday, January 5, 1947, at Second Church of Christ, Scientist, Toronto, located at 1015 Danforth Avenue.

In the fall of 1932 a group of students of Christian Science in the area began steps toward establishing a new church. First election of Readers was held on December 3, 1932. Arrangements were made with the Toronto Board of Education to hold services in the kindergarten room of Wilkinson Public School on Donlands Avenue. The first services were held here in January, 1933.

A parcel of land on Danforth Avenue was purchased in April, 1937, and was completely paid for in a year and a half, First sod was turned for the new building in October, 1938, and within three months the building was ready for temporary use.
