PLAYING ENSEMBLE

[Of Special Interest to Young People]

A Little girl who played the piano well was invited on a certain occasion to take part in her school orchestra. She was pleased to have been chosen, but as the time for the rehearsal approached, although she knew her own store perfectly, she feared that she could not play it with the other instruments. Her teacher assured her that if she would keep her attention on the leader and on her own part, she could play ensemble and would not be confused. The child reported afterwards that the rule had worked, and the performance had gone off especially well.

How often the sour notes, or mistakes, which so frequently seem to occur in our human lives could be prevented if this simple rule were applied to collective enterprises! Christian Science teaches us how to keep our thinking attuned to the one Mind, thereby excluding the confusing belief in many minds and bringing out harmony in every situation.

Divine Mind maintains and governs its spiritual creation. Man, the perfect and complete expression of this Mind, is not a limited mortal striving to get along with or in spite of other mortals. He is the compound idea of Mind, forever at one with God reflecting the substance of Spirit and the reality of Life. The harmony, rhythm, and completeness of the real universe are no more interpreted by human ignorance than is the composer's symphony by an uninspired leader or incompetent players. As human thought is educated out of its false concepts of creation by study and practice of the Science of being, an improved sense of existence will be brought out in all phases of human living.
