"THE TEEMING UNIVERSE OF MIND"

Never before in history have human possibilities for good and evil seemed so imminent; hence the need that mankind shall accept the Science of Christianity and learn that good alone is real and is power. It is as though the speed of life were being accelerated in every direction; incredible opportunities for good and evil face humanity, incredible demands are being made on the individual and on society, and things deemed impossible are every hour being accomplished. Yet humanity's fears do not decrease, nor does the sense of pressure lessen. It would almost seem as though fear and pressure kept pace with the increase of human knowledge.

Not so, however, in the realm of Spirit. In language and imagery peculiarly her own, Mary Baker Eddy writes in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures"(p. 513), "Advancing spiritual steps in the teeming universe of Mind lead on to spiritual spheres and exalted beings." "The teeming universe of Mind"! What worlds of activity, productivity, exhaustlessness, and usefulness are opened here!

Universe is effect, not cause; creation, not creator. The word is derived from two Latin words which combined mean "turned into one." The universe is the effect of one Mind expressing itself as one infinite whole, in manifold variety of beauty, form, outline, color, interest, accomplishment, forever fulfilling its own vast purposes of good, prolific in health, life, joy, and completeness; untiringly renewing and replenishing itself.
