For the many benefits I have received...

For the many benefits I have received from the study of Christian Science over a period of thirty years, I shall never be able to express sufficient gratitude. I was fortunate in being born into a family where Christian Science was being studied, and I was early enrolled in the Sunday School, where I learned the simple truths that I still find so effective in time of trouble. It has been my recent privilege to teach Sunday School in a branch church, and I feel that I can now repay some of the debt I owe the teachers who taught me years ago by teaching the same truths to the next generation.

I should especially like to mention the wonderful protection I experienced while in the armed forces during the past few years. I was commissioned as an officer in the Naval Reserve, before Pearl Harbor, and I knew that divine Mind would govern my experience in service as in civilian life. As a result I was guided and protected and found my work both interesting and helpful to the Cause of Christian Science. It was during this period that I had the happy experience of class instruction, although Navy rules concerning leave seemed to prohibit my taking such a step at that time.

For the Christian Science Wartime Ministers and other workers I should also like to express my gratitude. Services were held in all types of places, and many of the men who participated in them became better working Christian Scientists because of their experience.
