I wish again to express through...
I wish again to express through our periodicals my gratitude for Christian Science. A testimony of my first healing in Christian Science appeared in The Christian Science Journal of January, 1930.
Since then we have had a beautiful demonstration over financial reverses brought on by the depression of 1933, in which my husband was thrown out of work because salesmen were no longer needed. We turned entirely to God, divine Mind, for help. Mrs. Eddy says in "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 307), "God gives you His spiritual ideas, and in turn, they give you daily supplies." There seemed to be no avenue open to obtain work, not so much as to meet our daily needs. Through steadfastly holding to the teachings of the Bible, in which Christ Jesus shows us that supply is spiritual, and diligent study and application of Christian Science, we were always provided for. Gradually my husband worked out a business of his own, which has steadily expanded, so that now it not only provides him with adequate work with good remuneration, but also gives employment to many others.
Mother marvelous demonstration was made over the belief of time when our daughter received her Master's degree in business in 1942. She had spent the required number of summers at the university, had done splendid work, so her professors said, and was expected to graduate that year. But because the right kind of books for her work were not in the university library but had to be brought in from elsewhere, she was delayed in writing her thesis. She wrote home asking for help on the situation, saying: "Mother, unless we can work this out in Christian Science, I am afraid I will not get my degree this summer. One professor told me that the degree is mine, but it is a question of time when it will be awarded, and he suggested that it might be better to finish next year, since the time is getting so short."
