Christian Science heals

Christian Science heals. I have proved it time and time again. When almost at the end of human endurance, after being treated by five physicians in a short space of time and receiving no lasting benefit, I prayed earnestly to God that He would show me the way out of my misery. My prayer was answered in a beautiful way.

I was first provided with congenial work, which eventually led me to the birthplace of Christian Science, and in a small town of that state I was privileged to hear my first lecture on Science. Being in great need I drank deeply at this fountain of truth. Some six weeks after the lecture, when attacked by the old complaint, I sought "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy and began to study it earnestly. My first reading brought wonderful results. I read for some hours without the use of my glasses, and it was not until I put my hand up to remove them—as I thought—that I realized what had taken place. I was healed of having to wear glasses and I saw, as in a flash, the deep meaning and implication of divine Science. Such earth weights, imposed by mankind upon themselves, were seen as mesmerizing dreams from which they can be and are awakened when they know the truth about man's divine heritage. One healing followed another in rapid succession until I was completely healed.

Several years ago our daughter, now nineteen years of age, became seriously ill and was in a coma for some days. A physician had to be called in because under such circumstances the law demanded it. Not satisfied with his own diagnosis, he called upon a specialist, and they decided that a major operation was necessary. Be it understood that we were not giving our daughter into the care of the physician; we were simply complying with the law. I had to accompany her in an ambulance to the hospital while an air raid was in progress. On the way there she recovered consciousness and we exchanged a few words. I was convinced that the healing was taking place, for we had not ceased to apply the truth of Christian Science. Although she was in the hospital over a week, it was not found necessary to operate; she was given no medicine to our knowledge, and in a month was able to walk across the room unaided. That difficulty has never returned, and she is in perfect health. During the major part of this experience a practitioner lovingly helped us. We hold a profound respect for all such consecrated workers.
