The Holy Ghost Is with Power

Mary Baker Eddy, in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," defines the Holy Ghost as follows (p. 588): "Divine Science; the development of eternal Life, Truth, and Love."

Moses was made mindful of the Holy Ghost by the flame of fire in the midst of the bush at mount Horeb. There he was told to lead the children of Israel out of captivity. Later he caught still more glorious glimpses of the indestructible, spiritual idea of Life, Truth, and Love which enabled him to give to his people the moral laws known as the Ten Commandments.

When Elijah was led to Horeb and witnessed the rending wind, the earthquake, and the fire, he discerned that the Holy Ghost is not in the destructive elements of mortal mind, but is the "still small voice" of God. In "Miscellaneous Writings" (pp. 174, 175) Mrs. Eddy speaks of divine Science as meaning "the Holy Ghost that leadeth into all Truth; the 'still, small voice' that breathes His presence and power, casting out error and healing the sick."
