Christian Science came into our...
Christian Science came into our home when I was a child of seven, through a friend of my father's. My father had been studying and applying this Science for less than a year when an accident occurred, and the efficacy of the healing power of Truth was proved beyond a doubt.
Returning from school one day. I was run over by a light truck, the rear wheel passing over my stomach. I was picked up from the road unconscious and carried into a neighbor's house. After my mother arrived, the doctor, who had been summoned by the neighbor, was dismissed, and I was taken home and put to bed. When my father returned home, he took up work in Christian Science on the case. The following morning I was up, and jumping off the back steps, much to the surprise and consternation of the neighbors.
Through childhood I was protected from many contagious children's diseases, and seldom experienced any illnesses. After I was married and my daughter was born, there came a testing time which was the turning point of my life. My husband was not at that time a Christian Scientist, and I was getting farther and farther away from it myself. Then when my daughter was three weeks old, she was stricken with a serious bowel trouble. My husband called a doctor, but medical help was of no avail, for she steadily grew worse. After several calls the doctor told us that there was no hope of saving the child.
