Thanksgiving Day

A Heart overflowing with gratitude is a normal, everyday occurrence among Christian Scientists, for they are ever thankful for the freedom from material, limiting beliefs which they are gaining through their growing understanding of the Christ, Truth. God's allness, goodness, presence, power, and love are hourly being unfolded in practical ways to the one who is gaining an awareness of his true selfhood as the image of Love, and who is thus putting off materiality and gaining in spirituality.

In addition to being grateful for benefits received through the study and application of the inspired Word of the Holy Bible as revealed to this age by their Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Christian Scientists recognize that gratitude is a necessity, as well as a privilege, if the healing truth is to be demonstrated as a present fact in their lives. Gratitude to the Father-Mother God includes acknowledgment of Him as infinite Life, Truth, and Love, as the one Principle of all true being and of man as one with his parent Mind, whole, pure, and free. This acknowledgment brings healing in human experience through the realization of the ever-present operation of divine law and the omnipotence of God, good.

Through the provision for a Thanksgiving Day service in Christian Science churches, Christian Scientists throughout the world may join in spreading to all parts of the globe the true sense of thanksgiving.
