Great are the blessings which...
Great are the blessings which have come into my life through the study of Christian Science. It was a great help to me in the education of my only son after the loss of my husband.
One of the physical healings which my son experienced was that of appendicitis and peritonitis, after the physician had given up all hope of a recovery. This was in 1909. At that time I knew very little about Christian Science, and my fears were great. But I turned at once to God, and the angel thought came to me clearly that it was God's will that he should live and not die. I was not at all astonished when a great change for the better took place in his condition. From that day I have studied Christian Science daily and have put it into practice as far as I have understood it.
Some years later, while my son was studying at the Technical University at Delft, he was brought home one day after having an accident. He complained about pains in his back and thought that something might be broken. I rejected this suggestion at once and read to him from "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy the statement beginning at line 19 on page 494, which gave us both much comfort. In two days all pain had left him, and he returned to Delft. Some weeks later he said to me that he thought something in his back really had been broken by that accident. We had an X-ray picture made, which showed that one of the vertebrae of the spine had been broken and then healed.
