How grateful I am for the unselfishness...
How grateful I am for the unselfishness and devotion of our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, in giving us her written works and in establishing the church and other activities of the Christian Science organization!
My first healing came one Sunday morning during the reading of the Lesson-Sermon at church. It was that of a severe cold. It disappeared that morning, and I never went through the experience of breaking it, or throwing it off. For two weeks I said nothing about it, for I could not believe it myself. At this time I was not yet reading the Lesson-Sermons. I had been attending the Wednesday evening meetings and listening to the testimonies. I would think to myself, "It just can't be true; yet they can't all be imagining those things."
I began to study Christian Science seriously because of an emotional disturbance which at the time seemed beyond human endurance. I knew I needed something very powerful to help me, and I recognized that Science was all that could help me. I was healed of the trouble, and since then have had many more healings, among them extreme nervousness and other dispositional troubles, including spells of melancholy which at times would make me go off by myself and cry for long periods of time. Fallen arches, corns, and calluses have also been healed. Most of these healings came about through my own study without specific work. I also had an instantaneous healing of grief through studying the Lord's Prayer with Mrs. Eddy's interpretation.
