Concerning Christian Science Wartime and Postwar Activities
[From a Husband and Wife in Austria]
"Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." How very few people understand these words from the Bible or attain the freedom promised therein! But we know somewhat of the deeper meaning of the words and enjoy the promised freedom. All this we owe to our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, who has explained the Bible to us, and to our friends who have continued after her to spread the Christ-teaching all over the world .
What we have in advance of other people, thanks to Christian Science, was seen especially during the years of war and the following months, a time which seemed especially difficult to most people. Knowing that our heavenly Father is the only source of supply helped us to free ourselves from oppressing anxiety for the physical well-being of others. Knowing that as children of God we are always under the protection of the Almighty made us free from the panic which others experienced during heavy air raids. Neither were we anxious about our possessions; for had we not put them under God's protection? And thanks to Christian Science we felt no hatred, not even the slightest antipathy for other nations and races. We felt the spiritual bond uniting us with our friends throughout the world.
