Away with Dullness!

Have you ever wistfully declared, "I wish I could recapture the inspiration of my early-days in Christian Science"? Sometimes this is said by one who has studied Science for many years. May this not be the clue to the situation, for the belief of time is dulling and limiting and always ends in deterioration. But actually one's study of Christian Science is not measured by years but by the good revealed. Truth is constantly unfolding itself, and there can be no darkened sense in this unfoldment.

The experience of the disciples is helpful in this regard. For three years they had seen the power of Truth overcome all kinds of difficulties. As they themselves expressed it on one occasion (Luke 10:17), "Even the devils are subject unto us through thy name." Daily they had companioned with the highest representative of good. After the crucifixion they became doubtful, listless, and dull. But, lo, the resurrection! Listen to what Mary Baker Eddy says of this in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 34): "Through all the disciples experienced, they became more spiritual and understood better what the Master had taught. His resurrection was also their resurrection. It helped them to raise themselves and others from spiritual dulness and blind belief in God into the perception of infinite possibilities."

Has your study of Christian Science become monotonous? Are you dull, lethargic, and even at times doubtful? The remedy is at hand. Have part in the resurrection. The resurrection is not just an event which occurred in a bygone age, but demonstrates the omnipresence of spiritual existence as the only reality.
