Democracy! On all sides one hears the word. What are we fighting for? The democratic way of life—but what is democracy? We have a democratic system of government, but do we as individuals know what is democracy? The question recurs until one feels prompted to search deep down for the true concept.

We think of liberty as a component part. Liberty of thought, speech, action, and the pursuit of happiness. The right to decide for oneself. This sense of liberty carries with it great responsibilities, for such a privilege must not be abused.
