Lecture Preparedness
The giving of a Christian Science lecture is a joyous occasion. Those who attend a lecture receive a blessing, their sense of existence is uplifted, and many go away healed of some inharmonious condition. A lecture also blesses those who sponsor it, and it blesses the community.
In "Rudimental Divine Science" (p. 3) Mary Baker Eddy says: "This Life, Truth, and Love—this trinity of good—was individualized, to the perception of mortal sense, in the man Jesus." Life, without beginning and without end, always harmonious; Truth, which makes us free; and divine Love, all-loving, destroying fear, and encompassing our being, were brought to the perception of those mortals who came in close contact with the Master. "Where'er he went, affliction fled" a loved hymn tells us.
The Master was a wonderful teacher and lecturer. He taught in the synagogues; he taught by the wayside; he taught on the mountain and by the seashore. He broke bread with his disciples, and fed the multitude—fed them and healed them.
