Business as Usual
When nations go to war, the human mind is apt to indulge in fear and predict confusion, peril, and disaster for those businesses not engaged in essential war work. The alarm thus engendered causes many employers and employees to rush about anxiously, seeking information as to what constitutes essential industry. Because of misunderstanding and misinformation a business world, turned topsy-turvy by war, seems lost in a maze of confusion.
Such a condition may go on for weeks, months, or years before enlightenment appears. The human mind has no real solution to offer for a dilemma of this nature, because it is itself the author of discord, fear, and war. On the other hand, the divine Mind, God, Spirit, the source of all harmony and concord, provides a sure method of successful and continuous activity for man, regardless of apparently threatening circumstances.
"But," one may ask, "how can Spirit adjust abnormal business conditions, supply human needs, and quiet the fears of war?" Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, answers this query in a brief and forthright statement on page 468 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," as follows: "All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all."
