Too long have I delayed in expressing...

Too long have I delayed in expressing my gratitude to God and to our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, for giving us a practical, usable religion by which to guide our daily lives.

It was my privilege to be a "Busy Bee" (see Miscellaneous Writings, p. 144). and to have sincere and consecrated teachers in the Christian Science Sunday School, who helped me to lay a sure foundation on which to build; and later I received class instruction from one very close to our Leader. Two sons, now fathers in turn, were reared in a home where no medical physician ever entered except at their birth.

For constant guidance through the years I am indebted to the understanding obtained through the authorized channels of The Mother Church. Always have I been protected when I have obeyed the instructions in the following paragraph in "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany," by Mrs. Eddy (p. 210): "Beloved Christian Scientists, keep your minds so filled with Truth and Love, that sin, disease, and death cannot enter them. It is plain that nothing can be added to the mind already full. There is no door through which evil can enter, and no space for evil to fill in a mind filled with goodness. Good thoughts are an impervious armor; clad therewith you are completely shielded from the attacks of error of every sort. And not only yourselves are safe, but all whom your thoughts rest upon are thereby benefited."
