Christian Science was presented to me twenty-nine years ago in the island of Cyprus when a newly found friend gave me two copies of the Christian Science Sentinel to rend. As I studied them, I said to myself, "This is how I should like to think, and it is evidently right to think in this way." A great sense of peace and joy flooded my consciousness.

On returning to Cairo I was advised by my friend to buy a Bible and a copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. My friend kindly showed me how to read the Lesson-Sermon. Very soon I discarded all material remedies, and Christian Science has been my only physican ever since.

A few months later I attended my first Christian Science service, an informal one, in a private house near Alexandria. I remember walking up that short, steep hill with great difficulty. I was suffering from an internal trouble of many years' standing, and had left England for warmer climes, hoping to find relief. The opening hymn was one of Mrs. Eddy's, and it seemed as though every word was written for me. As tears of gratitude rolled down my face, my healing took place at that service. To my astonishment and joy I found I was able to walk easily and without any discomfort, and very soon I was even swimming in the sea.
