It is with a deep sense of gratitude...

It is with a deep sense of gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me and mine that I give this testimony. My hope is that it may help someone whose healing seems slow.

I became interested in Christian Science in 1911, when quite a young woman, through association with friends who were Scientists. They were so happy and went about the business of living with such peace and confidence that I was greatly impressed. I purchased a copy of the textbook. Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and attended Sunday services and Wednesday evening meetings. The more I learned of Christian Science the more joyous and happy I became.

In 1912 I married and moved to a small western town where there was no church or society. For several years I kept up the study of Christian Science, but not too faithfully. Then in 1918 my baby son and I were' stricken with influenza. It was impossible to obtain anyone to care for him, and since I was unable to do so myself he was taken to the home of a nurse. In a few days he passed on. After this experience I took a firm stand for Christian Science. While I was still very ill my husband, who was not a Scientist, asked me what kind of help I wanted. I said, "Christian Science, no matter what happens." A few months after my healing I became a member of The Mother Church.
