Too long have I enjoyed and...
Too long have I enjoyed and been helped by the testimonies of others and neglected to send in my own. About forty years ago I came to the place where help was no longer promised me in materia medica. It was then that I turned to Christian Science with, however, no faith that I should receive either help or healing. In three days' time normal bodily action was established, but, being skeptical that complete healing could be accomplished so quickly, I continued Christian Science treatment for ten days. Through the years, this healing has been maintained, and has always served as a shining light of encouragement when other difficulties have arisen.
Among the many instances of healing which I remember was that of eczema, which I had had for about ten years. This healing came as a result of reading a testimony in the Christian Science Sentinel on that subject. A woman suffering with this trouble had been to many practitioners but had failed to receive any relief. Another practitioner in talking to the patient said, "How can you expect healing when you make use of a material remedy?" The woman indignantly denied she had ever used a remedy of any kind. The practitioner said, "But you rub the parts affected to allay the itching." The woman was completely healed. I too was healed in a very short time when I became obedient to the same demand of Principle. Sick headaches of many years' standing were completely overcome by my own growing understanding of Truth. At one time I had a very serious illness which was never diagnosed, and after many days during which I neither slept nor partook of any food I suddenly realized I was well. I dropped at once into a quiet sleep, and on awakening I arose and dressed.
As the result of a fall on the ice I broke an arm and my collarbone. I called a practitioner and for two days depended entirely on her help. My children were disturbed that I had no examination by a physician, so I yielded to their entreaties and had an X-ray picture taken. It was sent to my daughter's physician and the next day he came to my home. He said: "I came only to apply some tape to hold your arm in place. The X-ray picture shows a perfect setting of the broken bones, and, my friend, only God could have done that."
