Letters to the Press from Christian Science Committees on Publication

Dagens Nyheter

Percy Hisson Tamm, Committee on Publication for Sweden Dagens Nyheter

Your valued paper some time ago carried a report of an article in Dagens Nyheter regarding "the social service of the Oxford group." In this article Christian Science is referred to in a way that might cause misunderstanding, and I therefore would be obliged to you for publishing the following elucidation.

Besides putting two such utterly differing movements as spiritism and Christian Science on a par, the author seems to want to make out that the "message" of Christian Science lacks contact with the "richness of the Bible word." Yet Christian Science builds wholly and fully on the Bible, the spiritual meaning of which its adherents strive continually to gain in greater measure and to put into practice. Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of the movement, says (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 497), "As adherents of Truth, we take the inspired Word of the Bible as our sufficient guide to eternal Life."
