I want to share with others the...
I want to share with others the blessings I have received through the study of Christian Science. The privilege of Sunday school attendance was mine until I became twenty years old. After that followed a period of complete disuse of my early religious training. During these years filled with financial, moral, and spiritual stress, I wandered far from Christian Science. For every lesson learned from the stumbles and falls of the long way back, I am glad. I returned with great humility, facing impending blindness, apparently caused by a dreaded tropical infection. Regeneration began when I was led by a friend to a consecrated practitioner, who has patiently brought me out of physical and spiritual blindness into the dawn of a new understanding of Christian Science. There has never been a return of the difficulty.
I have shed false appetites and unlovely traits of character. I have seen the operation of divine Love in the healing of broken bones. I have felt the courage and protecting presence of Mind while taking oral and written examinations for my doctorate, and while traveling about on "my Father's business" (Luke 2:49). "The dawn of all things real is breaking o'er me" (Hymn No. 64), and I know peace and progress for the first time.
I am grateful to God for membership in The Mother Church, in a branch church, and in a university organization, and for the blessing of service in the Cause of Christian Science. As I leave for service with the Women's Army Corps, I look forward to broader, deeper opportunities to prove my gratitude by living Christian Science.—(Mrs.) Marie Pope Wallis, Albuquerque, New Mexico.
