I have long delayed telling of the wonderful blessings and healings I have received through reading the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.

About eighteen years ago, while I was staying at a health resort, the textbook was sent to me as a direct answer to my prayer to God to lead me out of my troubles and distresses. I was ill at the time, weak, discouraged, and afraid of the future, and wondered if God really was available in a time of need. The thought came to me (Isa. 41:10): "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness."

As I turned to God in prayer the well-known hymn beginning "Lead, kindly Light, amid the encircling gloom," flooded my consciousness. The second verse stood out:
