Demonstrating Our Unity with God

The Bible reveals God as Spirit, Life, Truth, and Love. The first Scriptural account of creation, in its completeness and perfection, is found in the first chapter of Genesis, wherein it is declared that God made all that was made, including man in His image and likeness. As like always produces like, God's creation must be, and is, spiritual, Godlike, perfect, invariable, indestructible, and eternal. From no other basis of reasoning than perfect God and perfect man can we understand God and demonstrate man's unity with Him.

Christian Science, based wholly upon a spiritual interpretation of the Scriptures, reveals God as divine Mind, the one infinite, intelligent cause or creative Principle of all that really exists. Self-existent Mind and Mind's ideas constitute reality, God and the universe. Mind's ideas forever express or reflect the nature and character of Mind. As Mind's idea, man therefore reflects the intelligence, wisdom, action, law, and power of Mind. The real man is incorporeal, wholly spiritual; he never has had a material origin or mortal existence, nor is he subject to material conditions or laws. As the offspring of Spirit he is eternally governed and sustained by spiritual law. God's law.

Christ Jesus, our beloved Master and Teacher, acknowledged only one Mind or Principle, which he called Father, and was conscious of his real selfhood as spiritual, eternally coexistent with this divine Principle. His words (John 10:30), "I and my Father are one," bear witness to these facts. Jesus' superiority to world-liness, his humility and receptivity to Truth, his undeviating obedience to God, good, his wonderful demonstrations of spiritual healing—these gave irrefutable proof of his consciousness of man's at-one-ment with God. Jesus was the human herald of the impersonal Christ, Truth. Demonstrating the unreality, the nothingness, of every phase of matter or mortality, and the supremacy and infinitude of Spirit, he became the Way-shower of salvation to mankind.
