When speaking of the chapter...
When speaking of the chapter "Recapitulation" in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mary Baker Eddy, its author, says in that volume (p. 465) that "after much labor and increased spiritual understanding, she revised that treatise for this volume in 1875." I am often helped by remembering that she mentions "much labor" before "increased spiritual understanding."
Although Christian Science had been offered to me in childhood, it was not until a few years ago, when I found every material avenue to happiness had failed to fulfill its promise, that I was willing to "labor" and so gain a measure of spiritual understanding which is constantly bringing me increased health, happiness, and supply.
The circumstances which led me to ask a practitioner for help were the collapse of health, together with business and family associations. One major operation had been performed and the attending physicians declared that another was necessary. I had not been able to sleep without sedatives for many months.
