Signs of the Times
Man, the Child of God
The Rev. David B. Pearson
Exponent, Chagrin Falls, Ohio
Jesus came to reveal God to man, but it is just as true that he came to reveal man to himself. He called himself "the Son of man." He spent his life among the poorest and humblest of mankind to teach us something of the value and worth of man. He said that man was a child of God, capable of friendship and immortal life. These great truths shine out in all his words [and] deeds.
He spoke to man, not as a product of nature, but as a child of God, made in His likeness. Consider the lilies, he said.... Regard the birds of the air.... Are you not worth more than many sparrows?
