Christian Science has been my...

Christian Science has been my staff throughout my school life, and in my business, social, and home affairs. I have found no problem or condition too small or too large to be solved harmoniously through the application of its teachings. Though unable to find a position during the depression, and without financial means, I was provided a way to complete my college work. After this a very exceptional position for one of my experience was given me. For these evidences of abundance at a time of widespread lack, I give full credit to Christian Science.

Occasionally, in my work as a school teacher and as a business employee. I have encountered situations where injustice, partiality, and lack of appreciation were dominant. In each instance, after sincere effort to keep my thinking in line with Christian Science, I have seen these evidences reversed, and have experienced satisfying promotion, increased responsibility and the establishment of mutual respect and good will with my superiors. Best of all I have seen the demonstration extend to and include my fellow workers, thus proving Mrs. Eddy's statements in Science and Health (p. 13). "Love is impartial and universal in its adaptation and bestowals." and (p. 206), "In the scientific relation of God to man, we find that whatever blesses one blesses all as Jesus showed with the loaves and the fishes,—Spirit, not matter, being the source of supply."

At one time I sought advancement and progress by changing positions. This material basis of thought led me to a second change, which placed me in a very undesirable and unhappy environment. Realizing that I had been governed by material considerations and ambition, I knew that the remedy lay in attaining a more spiritual standpoint of thought rather than in seeking another locality or different work. So I remained in the position, although the suggestion to resign was often almost overpowering. I am happy to state that gradually intimidation, disparagement, discourtesy, and discredit gave way to appreciation, trust, and approval. The greatest gain from the experience was the spiritual growth through which I learned to demonstrate a higher and more satisfying sense of companionship, work, and home.
