Excerpts from Letters Concerning Christian Science Wartime Activities

[From a Christian Science Officiating Minister]

I visited a Welfare Officer at a hospital in Cairo and had dinner at the Medical Officers' Mess. He had arranged a meeting for me with a number of West African natives who had been receiving Christian Science literature at their request. Some have our Christian Science textbook. We spent about an hour and a half with them in their canteen, during which time they plied me with questions about the Bible and Christian Science. They had been educated in missionary colleges and speak and write English well.

They were thirsting for information, and eagerly accepted all the literature I could give them. I gave out three Bibles, and shall never forget the many hands outstretched to me when I entered our car to distribute the literature. There were approximately twenty-five natives present, and many took part in the discussions. Later I spent some time with two Basuto natives. They are both keen students now of Christian Science and both have Science and Health.
