Although, as a writer, I have...

Although, as a writer, I have used words for many years I find it impossible to express the depth of my gratitude to God for Mary Baker Eddy, who gave us the great truth of the mental nature of things, and who has revealed to the world the nothingness of matter and mortal mind.

Nor can I fittingly express my gratitude for Christian Science, its organization, literature, and practitioners. At one time, when mortal sense was claiming tragedy and disaster and I was almost too burdened to carry on, a practitioner told me to take the Concordance to Science and Health and study the references on the one Mind. I studied all one afternoon, and before night the situation was completely healed. I fell asleep with the words, "Thank You, God," on my lips.

At another time, in a city, when I could not sleep for fear of not being able to meet heavy financial obligations, I was reminded of Peter, who could have walked on the water had he not let fear govern his thinking. There stood the Master on the water in defiance of all material laws. Peter started all right, but then he began to be afraid, and cried out for help. Jesus chid him for his fear—but reached his hand out to save him! And that night I slept in supreme confidence that the Christ had extended a hand to me, despite my fear, and would save me. The method of saving is a confidential business story, but it was an overwhelmingly joyous occasion, and all needs were met.
