When I first took up the study...
When I first took up the study of Christian Science about fourteen years ago, I witnessed some wonderful healings of members of my family, Concussion, pneumonia, infantile paralysis, and bronchial asthma were healed through Christian Science treatment. But not until I was healed of the smoking habit did I really grasp the import of its teachings. I had been a heavy smoker for about twenty years, and, without any specific treatment being given, all desire to smoke left me. The habit of occasionally taking intoxicants was given up at the same time.
Since that time I have experienced many physical healings. Blood poisoning, lumbago, sprained ankle, influenza, and burns have all been successfully healed through Christian Science treatment. I am most grateful to the practitioners who have helped in these instances.
Recently, while repairing the roof of my home, I fell across a wooden beam, fracturing a rib. I seemed unable to free myself from the pain, and asked a member of my family for Christian Science help, which was given. Through her clear understanding of Mrs. Eddy's teaching that God knows nothing about accidents I obtained immediate relief. This occurred on a Saturday. On Sunday I was able to dress and attend church as usual, and none but my family knew of the occurrence. On Monday I went to my place of business and did a normal day's work. Except for a slight swelling, the healing was complete the following day. No medical assistance was sought and no material aids were used.
