With a heart overflowing with...

With a heart overflowing with joy and gratitude to God, I give my testimony, illustrating the practicality of Christian Science when applied to human needs.

Injurious effects from accidents have been prevented and, in some instances, impending accidents have been avoided. Mrs. Eddy's statement in Science and Health (p. 424), "Accidents are unknown to God, or immortal Mind and we must leave the mortal basis of belief and unite with the one Mind, in order to change the notion of chance to the proper sense of God's unerring direction and thus bringout harmony," has been effectively utilized. At one time when I was driving, a car darted across the highway directly in front of us. By declaring firmly and audibly, "We are all right," and listening to the direction of the one Mind, we were able to avoid the other car, keep our car from turning over, and avoid hitting two cars coming in the opposite direction. We rejoiced in having proved each individual to be "all right."

A number of years ago, when we were inexperienced in Christian Science, the following incident occurred. The men at our factory walked out, demanding more money before they would consider a reconciliation. All that day our family clung to the truth that right would prevail. Since the wages were higher than those paid by competing factories, a demand for larger pay seemed an injustice to the employer. That evening the foreman came to say that he and the men were willing to go back to work the next morning, and after thinking the matter over they had agreed that the present wages and conditions were entirely satisfactory.
