Taking Deeper Roots
Storms do not terrify those who are devoid of fear or those who are deeply rooted in the understanding of omnipotent good. Since becoming a student of Christian Science the writer has learned more of the significance of man's dominion over the illusions of the physical senses expressed as storms or disturbances.
Examination of their roots shows that certain trees have a tap or main root, which grows straight down, thus enabling it to get needful moisture, and also strengthening and sustaining the tree in its resistance to wind and other so-called natural elements. Obviously, the deeper this root the stronger the tree.
The advantage of being deeply rooted was apparent one day when a very severe storm raged in a locality where there were beautiful eucalyptus trees. The storm was so severe it seemed as if the trees would surely break off in the wind or be uprooted by the storm. Instead, when the wind subsided, the trees regained their original positions of majestic beauty and strength.
