When I found "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures"...

When I found "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy in a public library, I brought it home and read it through before I finally returned it. After a few days I took the book home again and kept it as long as possible. I had never heard of the Churches of Christ, Scientist, but considered the book a piece of interesting and beautiful literature.

At that time I was a so-called incurable invalid, lacking many of the necessities of life, without hope, and an utter failure. About a year later my daughter noticed in a window a card announcing a Christian Science lecture, and we decided to attend it. As I listened to the lecturer I tried to find statements I believed were the truth, something to live by. Some time later a woman described the Christian Science churches in our city to us. Our interest was aroused, and my daughter and I went to a service. We listened attentively to the Lesson-Sermon to find out if this was the church we could attend. After attending for about two months we heard the communion service read, and while we were kneeling in silent prayer the light came to my consciousness and I knew Christian Science to be the truth. Someone then told us how to study the Lesson-Sermon.

During the next four months, while studying the Lesson-Sermons and reading Mrs. Eddy's Prose Works, I was healed of colitis, gall bladder trouble, chronic appendicitis, and various nervous conditions. When I noticed I was eating everything that was set before me, I knew no words to express my gratitude to God. These healings came solely through reading the books, for I knew nothing about Christian Science practitioners. Since that time I have had many healings. My fears are gone, and my life has been changed from one of hopelessness to one of great joy.
