A happy, trusting outlook on life seemed impossible before I learned of Christian Science. Years of mental and physical suffering, hospitals, patent medicines, and all the paraphernalia of therapy had long kept me in bondage. There was not a spark of light on my horizon.

On the advice of physicians I left London. Since a change of climate at coast resorts had brought no improvement, I took an ocean trip, which ultimately brought me to California. Shortly I found myself back in my former hopeless condition, which had been pronounced incurable. Only after submitting to several operations did I turn to Christian Science and receive my first healing.

The truths of this wonderful Science, the ever-present efficacy of its healing power, unfolded very slowly to my consciousness. Complete healing came gradually, but through the renewing of the mind a more healthy body has been manifested. A practitioner pointed out the necessity of earnest daily study of the Lesson-Sermons so lovingly and wisely provided for us by our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy.
