With a grateful heart I give...

With a grateful heart I give this testimony.

A few years ago, while walking alone on a country road. I was struck by an automobile driven by a "hit and run" driver, and rendered unconscious. I did not know anything that had occurred until I regained consciousness in a hospital. The doctors told me that I had been seriously injured, and said that I must remain in the hospital for observation and an operation the next day. At once I silently declared that I was dwelling "in the secret place of the most High," and thanked God for His divine protection; I also thanked the doctors and nurses for their kindness to me. My thought went out to the "hit and run" drivers. I asked God to forgive them. I knew that perfect Love does cast out all fear. I asked the doctor to give me a little time to think for myself.

Putting God first, silently reaching out to Him for guidance, I knew I should be led to do the right thing. As if in answer to my prayer I found the woman in whose house I lived, was by my side telling me what had taken place. I asked her to call a Christian Science practitioner whom I knew, and this kind metaphysician came at once. Fearlessly I agreed to be driven home by the practitioner, who stayed the night with me. When, glancing into the mirror, I saw the condition of my face and the rest of my body, I tried all the more earnestly to know that only perfect God and perfect man exist, and that nothing can disfigure God's reflection, the real man. The practitioner came daily to read the Lesson-Sermon to me, and in a very short time I was completely healed. I am grateful indeed that many who witnessed this healing said, "Surely this came about through great faith in God." I am deeply grateful for Christian Science.
