As I look back on the last seven...

As I look back on the last seven years I become more aware of my love and gratitude for Christian Science and for its Discoverer and Founder, Mary Baker Eddy. During this period my whole mental outlook, body, and life have been transformed. Up until this time I had had Christian Science as a religion, had gone through the Sunday school, and was a member of a branch church, but it was not a practical, working part of my everyday life.

A physical disability, which was never diagnosed, caused me great agitation. The fear of death became so insistent that I knew God was the only one I could trust. Many nights were spent in wakefulness, but the beautiful truths that were revealed to me at those times compensated for all the mental anguish.

Social drinking and smoking were first eliminated. Next I learned to love those around me, to have more patience with my fellow man, to be more kindly. I shall never forget the first glimpse I had of the fact that man is spiritual. This revelation stayed with me as a light to guide me on my way, for nothing in my life had ever satisfied me or given me as much joy as this did. I knew that progress along these lines meant true happiness.
