Petition
Teach
me how to yield, dear Father,
To Thy great and holy power;
Humbly do I ask it of Thee
As I listen hour by hour
For the holy inspiration
Which to man Thou dost impart,
That which purifies and cleanses
The repentant human heart.
Self-esteem and all things mortal
Are the dreams that would deceive.
Make me willing to relinquish
All the earthly make-believe.
So with thought at one with Spirit,
May it be my constant aim
To perceive my Father's allness
And forsake the earthly claim.
