When I was quite young, my mother was healed in Christian Science of a diseased heart and of stomach trouble of long standing. She had had very little use of her arm, which had become stiff. This condition was also corrected with the help of a Christian Science practitioner.
About this time we moved to the city, and my sister and I attended the Christian Science Sunday School. While I was away at school, I neglected my study of Christian Science, but I always felt that if anything serious should arise I would certainly seek Science as my remedy.
After I was married I failed to enjoy my usual good health. When our first son was born he weighed only four pounds. He was a delicate little fellow, and the physician found that he had a hernia. When he was three months old he developed another. Three good doctors considered this very serious. and said only an operation could effect a cure. I decided to call a Christian Science practitioner, and within thirty days the child was completely healed. I took him back to the hospital, and the doctor made a thorough examination. He said he could find no trace of the condition, but expressed the fear that it would return as the boy grew older and his exercise became more strenuous. This son is now seventeen, and does all the things a normal, healthy boy should do, without the slightest suggestion of that difficulty.
