As Thou Hast Made
FATHER,
who made the earth and heaven,
Who guards and guides creation, all,
Lead me to recognize Thy realm,
Wherein men neither fail nor fall.
Give me an understanding heart
With which to test each pressing thought,
And let no wayward consciousness
Conceal the truth Thy Word has taught.
Father, let humbleness prevail
'Gainst selfish purpose with its lure;
Let me desire to know myself
As Thou hast made me, selfless, pure.
When shadows loom across my path,
Darkening the way with mortal chill,
Let me, unfaltering, fearless go,
Knowing Love's light is with me still.
