The true Christian must achieve a Christ-inspired relationship with his fellow men. ... The piety achieved in a monastic way of living is inadequate. In fact, the Christian may know himself possessed of the key to the higher life by his love toward his fellow. ... [He] achieves Christlikeness in the measure of his willingness to minister in compassion and love and sacrifice to the necessities of his brethren. To do otherwise and profess love to God is to prove false.
