I am grateful for the countless blessings I have had through Christian Science, the demonstrable truth, given to all mankind by Mary Baker Eddy, its beloved Discoverer and Founder.

From childhood, my only religious training has been Christian Science. The miracle of healing has never been a miracle to me, but an accepted fact, because I learned in Sunday school that, regardless of the circumstance, my healing would be complete if I turned to God with my problem. For instance, one morning when I was helping with the washing, my hand was caught in the wringer of the washing machine. I was alone at the time; and as I was unable to release the machine, it was necessary to run my hand back out. I did not look at it, but wrapped it in some towels and turned to God. I realized the truth of "the scientific statement of being" (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 468), as I had been instructed in Sunday school. In half an hour the pain ceased, and I was able to finish my work. There was no discoloration, and no one knew of the incident until that evening.

I had had many proofs of the healing efficacy of Christian Science. However, when I began an advanced study of the sciences in junior college, I began to question my religion. I saw the religious foundations of many college students swept away, because their theology and their scientific reasoning could not mix or even meet. Consequently, I too began to wonder if all these proofs of God's care were not just "faith cures," which were being debunked and looked upon with scorn by the professors. One thing I had learned was that all sciences must be logical in sequence and in reasoning. If they were not capable of sustaining a logical conclusion, they were cast aside as impostors.
