The Light of Christ
Mary's pure uplifted consciousness
Was Christ revealed.
An angel of the Lord appeared to her:
Spirit disclosed to her God's fatherhood.
Receiving this immaculate idea
Of God within her heart, she pondered it,
And by the light of Truth there was unveiled
To her pure thought man's unity with Love.
And unto her in Bethlehem was born
A babe, herald of the Christ, the Word
And so within the heart of each of us
Who turns away
From false and fettering beliefs of sense
To seek in Spirit our identity,
The angel of the Lord appears again:
A holy and compelling peace pervades
Our thought, arousing us from matter's dreams;
In silent wonder pure assurance dawns
That we in Truth with purity are one,
And in our heart the radiant light
Of Christ is born.
