Blind Bartimeus by the Road

Blind Bartimeus by the road
Was no more blind than we.
He heard the passing feet of throngs,
He heard their glad uplifted songs,
And asked that he might see.

He stood, this blind man, by the road
And eager to be led.
Let us so seek the light of good
That Truth and Love be understood;
Let us be comforted.

The Christ still walks along the road
And we may rise today,
Throw off our garments of distrust,
Rise from the blinding wayside dust
And walk the Christly way.
