Christian Science has given me an abiding sense of the omnipresence of God, good, ever since I was a little boy, and my greatest joy has been to feel God's gracious hand tenderly leading me onward and upward toward spiritual happiness.

I owe a large debt of gratitude to my mother, who felt that a thorough understanding of God was more important to me than anything else. Her loving persistence in requiring that I study the weekly Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly never yielded to that insidious argument of the so-called carnal mind that a child should be allowed to decide this for himself.
