Home

Many people today are in need of gaining a more spiritual sense of home and of protecting their thoughts from material beliefs of destruction or loss. Few believe that the mere building makes a home; even the materialist admits that home gains its character from the thinking of those who occupy it. Qualities such as kindness, goodness, faith, understanding, always are included in the true sense of home.

On page 269 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mary Baker Eddy writes, "Metaphysics resolves things into thoughts, and exchanges the objects of sense for the ideas of Soul." And in the next paragraph she adds, "These ideas are perfectly real and tangible to spiritual consciousness, and they have this advantage over the objects and thoughts of material sense,—they are good and eternal."

In II Corinthians, Paul assures us, "We know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens." These passages show that our real home consists of ideas which reflect Mind, God, and are included in man. To be conscious of the presence of God, divine Love, is truly to be at home, and the consciousness of God, good, cannot be confined to a material place; it is omnipresent.
