My attention has been called to...

Gazette

My attention has been called to an advertisement of a sermon recently delivered. As the advertisement contains a number of misleading statements concerning the teachings of Christian Science, mistakenly called "Eddyism," will you kindly allow me space in which to offer the following corrections?

Any unbiased reader who will examine the six brief Tenets of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, to which Tenets every member of a Christian Science church subscribes, will see how contrary to the teaching of Christian Science are the assertions made in the advertisement.

I need quote only one of these to show what Christian Science teaches about the Christ. It reads: "We acknowledge and adore one supreme and infinite God. We acknowledge His Son, one Christ; the Holy Ghost or divine Comforter; and man in God's image and likeness" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, p. 497).
