About twelve years ago I applied...

About twelve years ago I applied for a position with one of our large local firms. In conformity with one of the company rules, I was forced to undergo a physical examination. I was told by the nurse in attendance that my tonsils were in a very aggravated condition and that they would have to be removed before I could be considered as a prospective employee. She advised me to call on a physician, and report back to her within three days to let her know what his opinion was.

As I left the office I was calmly confident that there could be nothing wrong with the perfect idea of God, and determined that I would never submit to an operation.

On reaching home I enlisted the services of a Christian Science practitioner, who readily took up the work. Never for one moment did I believe that there was anything inflamed or irritated or aggravated in perfection. In the allotted three days I returned to the company. There was a different nurse on duty, and, there being no mention of the previous examination, I was again subjected to the same routine. Upon examining my throat, the nurse exclaimed: "Who operated on you? Who performed this tonsillectomy? Your throat is in perfect condition!" I only smiled and offered no information, but secretly I knew that Christian Science and the ever-present Principle had healed me, quietly and completely. Needless to say, I procured the position, which I only recently resigned.
