Deep Desire

Give me a deep desire to help
To rid the world of wrong;
Give me a willingness to work,
Give me a victory song,
A song that helps the whole day through,
A song that preludes all I do.

Give me a deep desire to help
Defend the cause of right;
Give me an understanding heart
That knows wherein is might.
I seek that Love encircling all,
That Love that marks the sparrow's fall.

Give me a heart that rests in prayer,
That ever strives for good,
That knows no failure in the right,
When right is understood.
Lo! all I ask for when I pray
In deep desire, is mine today.
